This weekend Asheville hosted “Easter on the Green”. It is the first Festival that we attended here in Asheville, after our move, last year. That’s right, can you believe it? We have now officially been here in Asheville for one year! So much has happened in the past year. So many new experiences for all of us! Who would have thought that, after a year in Asheville, we would be gearing up to welcome BF2 into the world?
Back to the festival…it was a fun, family friendly festival with lots of blow-up slides, bouncy houses, and an egg hunt. This year was the first time that Holden participated in an Egg Hunt. Prior to the start, Matt explained what it was all about gave him some pointers. Holden stood there, deep in thought before the start…not too sure what this was all about. So the people running the hunt directed the kids to start and they were off, Holden carried his bag toward a set of orange and yellow eggs without much urgency, while the other kids ran in. Then, right before his eyes, the orange and yellow eggs were scooped up and Holden turned around and started walking back toward me, crying his little eyes out. My heart broke for him. Matt ran in (even though parents were not allowed) and tried to help him scoop up an egg but it was too late, all of the eggs were gone. Luckily the nice man who was directing the event had one on the side that he gave to Holden. Holden immediately announced that he found the egg before all of the other kids with such pride. It’s amazing how resilient kids can be. The egg hunt did not ruin our day:) Yay! Here’s a brief clip of Holden’s adventure in egg hunting.
The giant slide this year brought a look of terror and a look of pure joy into Holden’s eyes. It all happened so quickly so it was hard to capture on the video:)
Also the event had a kids mural that was being painted by any child who wanted to add to it. It will be hung at the local Earth Fare Supermarket. Pretty cool. Holden did a lot of the yellow painting on the right side. It started out as a big H and then became train tracks.
So Happy Easter to all! We plan to make a nice dinner tonight and enjoy a relaxing fire together. Best wishes to everyone:)
