Our little boy is growing up so fast! 3 months already!?!?!?! Wow! Everyone told me that right around the time you have to go back to work, your child gets to be really fun. They were SO right! He is laughing, smiling, looking all around. He is suddenly so interested in the world around him. He is talking more and more every day saying some favorite sounds such as “ah goo”. He is getting close to sleeping through the night, once he slept for 8 hours but on average does at least one 6-7 hour stretch in the night. I look forward to that first night that Holden sleeps through! I do have to say that we are so lucky because he has been sleeping fairly well so far and is a very easy-going, happy little boy.
Three months marks a few changes for the Frazier family. First, it means that I have headed back to work. Second, Matt is finishing up his summer teaching. Third, Matt and Holden begin their 1:1 journey together as Matt begins to watch Holden for the rest of the summer while I am working. I have to admit, this was an incredibly tough change for me. To go from having Holden with me all throughout the pregnancy and then for most of my 12 week maternity leave, to leaving him to go to work for 12 hours was extremely tough for me. I did a lot of crying the night before I had to work, the morning of, and on the way to work. I was so lucky to be leaving Holden with Matt but was just sad to be leaving him. But the good news is that I was fortunate to only have to work part-time. My leaving to work was much harder on me than it was on Holden. To be absolutely honest, it didn’t phase him at all! He loves getting to spend time with his Daddy and Matt truly loves getting to spend time with him as well! I have to give Matt credit, he settled in to his roll of Daddy very well. He has done a wonderful job with Holden at home and makes it look easy for all Dads! He has a very calm demeanor with Holden, it is great to watch.
So many of you probably would like to know what we did in the last few weeks of maternity leave. We continued with our travels! First, we took a trip to Frederick, MD to celebrate my 30th birthday. What a fun time we had there! We found lots of great restaurants and a beautiful riverfront. We ate a great restaurant that grows their own produce! Then we took Holden down to the beach for 4th of July where he got to meet more of his family and he stayed with his Great Aunt Elinore! He got to feel the sand between his toes and took a quick dip in the water as well! He wasn’t too big on the cold water splashing his legs but didn’t hate it. Then he also got to take a trip up to Uncle Joel’s family cabin in Biglerville, PA to celebrate Aunt Colleen’s 32nd birthday. Lots of fun adventures to commemorate the end of maternity leave!
Enjoy the pictures below of Holden’s 3rd month!
Until next time…
oh my goodness is he adorable or what? Love that smile! He and the puppers seem to be getting along well too. I can only imagine how difficult it must have been to go back to work. Hope you all are having a nice week 🙂
Thanks Erica! They are getting along great! We are just so in love with Holden, it is amazing!
