2 Months!!!

Wow, where do I begin?  Maybe with the thought that I can’t imagine life without Holden in it.  He is absolutely amazing!  He makes each day even better than the last.  A lot has changed in the life of Holden from 4 weeks until now.  At 4 weeks Holden seemed to have changed so much from birth.  Now he has changed even more than I imagined!  I guess I will have to get used to all of these changes.  🙂  He is now focusing on toys and starting to bat at them a little, he is much more aware of where Matt and I are in the room, he kicks and moves his arms in excitement so much that he spits up a little, and he has much longer awake periods during the day.  Also he doesn’t have such a strong need to be held anymore.  He can be very content to be laid down on a blanket, his playmat, or in a chair to just watch what is going on around him.  Don’t get me wrong, his position of choice is definitely in someone’s arms!  Holden enjoys his swing as well and likes to focus on the bears above him on the mobile.

Holden coos all the time and actually laughs when he is cooing as well.  He shows excitement when he sees us and looking at us when he is crying now also has a calming effect on Holden.  He also loves to move his tongue all around and tries very hard to shove his entire fist into his mouth:)

In the past month Holden has been on a few adventures…

Matt and I took Holden on a spontaneous trip around Pennsylvania where he stayed in his first hotel!  He got to tour around Kennett Square, Media, and West Chester.  We did a lot of feeding and diaper changing in the car and Holden really seemed to enjoy himself.  Also we took a trip down to Sterling, VA to watch Matt run his first 50 mile ultra run!  It was a blazing hot day, very humid conditions.  Matt did amazingly well and signed up for another one in Vermont in September!  Check out Matt’s race report here.  It’s quite inspiring.  This trip was also memorable because it was the first time Holden got to ride in the motorhome!  He seemed to enjoy it and got to ride in it again to go to an outdoor Beatles tribute concert at Boordy Vineyards for my 30th birthday.

Holden is continually meeting more and more people each and every day.  In fact, his days are getting busier and busier!  Last week Holden even started napping in his crib.  He did so well we started, about 3 days ago, having him sleep in his crib throughout the night.  The first night was tough, he went from sleeping 6 hours at a time to sleeping 3 hours at a time and even waking up sometimes within that 3 hour period for his pacifier!  The next night he slept for 4 hour stretches without waking up and seemed well rested the next day.  Then last night he was on track to have a great night when he woke up at 2 am because he had peed through his swaddle blanket!  He’s also quite the acrobat in the crib already!  He can travel the full length of the crib throughout the night and sometimes ends up in a position that is perpendicular to that which I originally place him in!  Who thought he would be this mobile so soon!  Today, Holden noticed the knitted giraffe that I made for him in his crib and smiled at it!  My heart melted when that happened!

So we have a lot to look forward to in the next month including father’s day, a trip to the beach, and Nannie visiting!   Stay tuned for more updates as Holden continues to change and brighten our lives daily!

Until next time…

Erin 🙂
